In a recent statement, Ofoegbu emphasized the critical role of culture in shaping identity, stating, “Everything rises and falls on identity discovery, and no body of works or thoughts showcases the identity of a people like its culture.” Reflecting on Nigeria’s historical struggle with identity crisis, she added, “For a very long time, Nigeria has been struggling with being the actual ‘Lion of Africa’ due to our ignorant disregard for our culture and roots.”
Ofoegbu, renowned for her work as a cultural theorist, highlighted the global impact of Nigeria’s cultural expressions in music, movies, fashion, and arts. She remarked, “This is really opening us up to the world. But when one is opened up the way that we are being opened up in today’s world, one must become super sensitive and observatory.” Concerned about the potential neocolonial threats disguised as foreign investments, she urged industry leaders to ask pertinent questions about preserving Nigerian values.
Shedding light on the inception of Look To Nigeria, Ofoegbu, a former Senior Producer and TV Host at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), shared, “To push this vision, I have started the Look To Nigeria platform. We are a movement geared towards culture promotion and identity recovery for Nigeria and Nigerians as we prepare to become the new world order in the next 10 years.”
In recounting her journey as a cultural theorist and brand strategist, Ofoegbu, also the founder of Aria Eden Media, revealed, “For the most part, I can only say that my fiery patriotism is innate.” Inspired by the late Dora Akunyili, she expressed a deep love for Nigeria and a commitment to healing the nation’s identity crisis. Ofoegbu, a licensed psychologist, emphasized the influence of culture on both individual and global identity, highlighting her TV show, Culture Conversations, which spotlights individuals making significant contributions to Nigerian culture.
Look To Nigeria under Chizobam Ofoegbu’s leadership is poised to play a pivotal role in the cultural renaissance and identity recovery of Nigeria, as the nation prepares to take its place as a prominent force in the new world order.
