
Today at Freedom Park, Lagos Island, the Segun Adefila-led Crown Troupe of Africa will bring its 20th-anniversary celebration to a glorious end with the stage performance of Wole Soyinka’s Death and the King’s Horseman at the main stage. It is a celebratory performance by Crown Troupe of African. Time is 7pm at the AmphiTheatre.
Crown Troupe of Africa has held a series of week-long activities to mark its 20th anniversary at Freedom Park. Events kicked off last Monday with a lecture by the philosopher, Prof. Sophie Oluwole who spoke on ‘Performance Practices in Africa and the Question of Development.’ Also on Tuesday, journalist, art advocate and playwright, Mr. Ben Tomoloju spoke on ‘Nigerian Theatre: Legacies from the past and Visions for a New Age.’
Workshops, seminars, film screening and art and fashion exhibitions, music and stage performances have characterised the entire anniversary celebration. Performances and exhibitions that spiced the feast included the screening of Tunde Kelani’s Yepaa, Solarin Nbo, Wats dis all about, The Waiting Room, Jungle Justice, Grip Am staged yesterday and Death and the King’s Horseman today to end the celebration. There will also be Award Presentation to close the celebration.
