#EndBadGovernance: Nigerians are enduring hardship – Gospel artist, Ify Nneji

Renowned gospel artist Ify Nneji has issued a statement on the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests across Nigeria. As the protests gain momentum nationwide, Nneji emphasizes the urgent need for the government to address the pressing issues faced by Nigerians.

“I stand with my fellow Nigerians in calling for an end to bad governance. The economic hardships we are enduring are unprecedented, and the suffering of the masses must be alleviated,” Nneji stated. “Our leaders must listen to the cries of the people and take immediate action to mitigate the challenges we face daily.”

The #EndBadGovernance protests, which began on August 1 and are scheduled to continue until August 10, highlight a range of demands from the populace. Key issues include rampant inflation, the high cost of living, and the removal of fuel subsidies, which have exacerbated the economic woes of many Nigerians

Nneji specifically calls on the administration of President Bola Tinubu to implement meaningful reforms that will ease the financial burdens on Nigerians. “It is time for our leaders to prioritize the well-being of the citizens. We need transparency, efficiency, and policies that will improve our standard of living,” she urged.

The protests have seen significant participation from various groups and individuals, all united in their quest for better governance. Despite government efforts to address some concerns, such as reducing the price of essential commodities and increasing the minimum wage, the widespread sentiment is that these measures are insufficient to tackle the root causes of the crisis

Nneji called for peaceful demonstrations and urged the government to engage in constructive dialogue with the protesters. “Let us come together in peace and solidarity, and let our voices be heard. I pray that our leaders will heed our calls and work towards creating a better Nigeria for all,” she concluded.
