Pen Nigeria has unveiled new projects and programmes aimed at realising its set goals and objectives. The new vision was unfolded recently at the general meeting of the association, tagged, Repositioning Pen Nigeria for Prominence, held in Lagos

After the meeting, which had in attendance, the writer and editor Adewale Maja-Pearce, Olayinka Oyegbile, and performance poet Akeem Lasisi, deliberating on the future of the Nigerian Languages, culture, literature and others, the association noted that with its desire to move the writing profession forward, as well as to meet world standard, it is ready to build a high quality mobile website for the centre, publish a special anthology of poems, short stories, playlets and critical essays. This would be launched in December 2018.

President of the association, Folu Agoi, said, “the word ‘writer’ is used by PEN International as an umbrella term for anyone involved in the word, written or spoken, who could be a poet, playwright, editor, essayist, novelist, academic, journalist, blogger, translator, biographer, publisher.”

The president, while promising to make the association’s presence felt through active participation at all major book, art and literary events across the country, in the hope of bringing all writers back to the fold, said the general meeting of the association would henceforth be held monthly, at its secretariat in Surulere, Lagos.
