Trevor Noah’s Daily Show concluded months of election coverage with a largely somber live show on Tuesday night.

In an episode titled “Election Night 2016: No no please no, oh God no, noooooo!” the host admitted he was “very much afraid” of what the outcome of the presidential election may be, as Donald Trump led the polls at the time.

“This is it, the end of the presidential race, and it feels like the end of the world,” he opened his monologue. “I don’t know if you came to the right place for jokes tonight, because this is the first time throughout this entire race where I’m officially shitting my pants. I genuinely do not understand how America can be this disorganized or this hateful.”

He added, “I’d call it a nail biter if I had any nails left.”

Noah told viewers that a Trump presidency didn’t just concern the country, but markets worldwide suffered huge drops as the Republican nominee secured more electoral votes.

“The Mexican peso is crashing – that’s what’s happening to Mexico’s currency,” he said, before adding, “Which means if Trump does win, Mexico can’t afford to pay for that wall.”

The host also took a moment to commend Clinton on the possibility of becoming the first female president of the United States. “I know this is a scary moment and it’s too close to call, but can we just acknowledge what an amazing moment this is for Hillary Clinton and all women?” he asked.
