When Shodade Segun, professionally known as Shoday, stepped into the limelight, during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, with his debut song dubbed, Single, it was glaring that his was a voice with a difference.

Barely three years later, the young maverick has kept soaring higher, with some of his latest feats including being inducted into the Shazam’s list of global artistes to watch in 2023.

After joining several ace artistes including other newcomers like Carter Efe, Bayanni, American rapper Ice Spice, among others, Shoday’s blossoming legacy extends with his latest release dubbed, Maradona.

With a gentle progression, Shoday’s soft vocals charge the record as he unlocks an easy-going groove on Maradona. The love-themed song sees Shoday express his feelings for his lover over the mid-tempo percussions and backing saxs. The record showcases his stealth as a songwriter, matching in potency with his earlier records such as Caution, and Dey 4 You.

Born in the Southwestern axis of Ogun State, the Lagos-based maverick started his career as a content creator and skit maker. After suppressing his music talent, for lack of financial sponsorship, he finally delved into it with his newly-grown audience who also found it easy to fall in love with his music.

His most recent previous work dubbed, Caution, shot the singer into global charts including Nigeria Shazam Charts, Top 100 Apple Music, iTunes worldwide charts, among others.

A witty and intriguing talent, Shoday thrives as one of the voices set to rise to the top in the Afrobeats scene across Africa.

Maradona is out across all streaming services.
