Fury vs. Usyk: Boxing aficionados pick who will win?
Here’s the hot take from three legendary boxers – current and former – as to who might win tonight between Fury and Usyk.
Daniel Dubois, IBF heavyweight title holder (Picks Fury)
Dubois, against all odds, defeated Anthony Joshua and is the man most likely to face the winner of tonight’s Fury vs. Usyk rematch. Speaking to Podlounge in the UK, Dubois was quoted as saying: “I’m still backing Fury. I hope our man does it. Usyk is capable. Fury should jump on him and smother him. Fury is a slick boxer too, but it will be a great fight and I’ll be out there calling on to fight the winner.”
Lennox Lewis, former undisputed heavyweight champion (Picks Fury)
Lewis was the last man before Usyk to unite the heavyweight belts 24 years ago. Here is what he had to say:
“Fury is very focused this time. I saw it very close the first time, and I think we are in for a very close fight the second time. Fury can make adjustments. Fury can box at a heavier weight, and if he comes forward, he is a heavyweight menace. If not, Usyk has Fury’s number. But Fury has to step up his game, and I think he can do it … but this is going to be another close fight.”
“Usyk has proven that he is a winner. And he hasn’t lost yet. So it is hard to go against him. Fury learned the most from the first fight, and he knows what to expect now. Tyson’s preparation has been better.”
“I think Fury will go after Usyk a little more, like he did in the second fight against Deontay Wilder. He was looking to sit down on his shots a little more, as he came back looking for revenge.”
Roy Jones Jr., former holder of four world championships in four weight classifications: middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight (Picks Usyk)
“Usyk has the momentum, but we will find out who Fury really is in this fight. If Usyk fights the wrong fight, and tries to knock Fury out, it could go wrong for him. I like Fury, but it’s hard to go against Usyk, given what he came up with the last time.”
