Six coronavirus patients recover in Lagos
Lagos State Government on Thursday said six coronavirus patients have recovered in the state and will be discharged soon.
Lagos State health commissioner Akin Abayomi in an interview on Nigeria Info said, “Tomorrow, we are going to discharge six of the (coronavirus) patients in Lagos.
“Our admitted patients will go down theoretically to 18.”
“6 of our #COVID19 inpatients have recovered and will be discharged soon,” Tunde Ajayi, special assistant to Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu tweeted earlier.
“There’s something Lagos is doing right. Lagos takes the lead.”
Lagos is the worst hit among other Nigerian states by the global pandemic with 32 cases according to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). Two of the patients in Lagos have been discharged after full recovery.
Abuja has 10 cases. Ogun State has three cases. Ekiti, Oyo, Edo, Bauchi, Osun and Rivers State have one case each to put the total of confirmed cases in Nigeria at 51 as at Thursday 2:00 pm.
To prevent further spread of the virus, the federal government and state governments have barred gathering of not less than 20 people.
Lagos State Government have also asked 70% of its workforce to work from home for two weeks and shut all schools.
The state also ordered the closure of all markets and recreational centres from Thursday for a week to curb the spread. Only those that provide essential services are to be opened.
