The Zamfara State Government has approved a 95 per cent salary increase for health workers across the state, with the new remuneration structure taking effect from September 7, 2026.

The adjustment, which is aligned with federal health-sector salary frameworks, including the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS), is aimed at improving the welfare of health personnel and strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.

The Head of Civil Service, Shehu Baraya, announced the review in a circular dated September 10, 2026, with reference number HS/Z/001/54/VOL.II.The circular was addressed to senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries and heads of ministries, departments, agencies, boards and commissions.

According to the government, the salary review is part of efforts to improve working conditions, strengthen the health workforce and boost the morale, productivity and efficiency of personnel.
Health workers were also urged to reciprocate the adjustment with greater commitment, professionalism and dedication to their duties.

“The government appreciates the continued commitment and sacrifices of health workers and looks forward to their renewed dedication towards building a stronger, more responsive and efficient health sector in Zamfara State,” the circular stated.

The revised structure includes new CONHESS basic salary scales covering different grades and steps, as well as updated hazard allowances for clinical and non-clinical health workers.

Under the new hazard allowance schedule, clinical health workers on salary grades one to five will receive ₦15,200, while non-clinical workers on the same grades are entitled to ₦14,250.
For grades six to 12, clinical workers will receive ₦30,400, compared with ₦28,500 for their non-clinical counterparts.

Workers on grades 13 to 15 are listed to receive ₦32,300 as clinical health workers and ₦30,400 as non-clinical personnel.The state government has directed heads of ministries, departments and agencies to communicate the revised salary structure to affected workers and ensure its full implementation.
