Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has announced a strategic partnership with Origin Group Nigeria, an agro-food systems company, aimed at revitalising agriculture and creating jobs across the state.
The agreement, unveiled in Yola, is expected to drive significant agricultural investments, with the governor assuring the company of full government support and a conducive environment to ensure long-term operations in the state.
Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s commitment to transforming Adamawa into an agricultural hub, stressing the sector’s potential to address unemployment and improve food security.
He affirmed his administration’s readiness to provide all necessary incentives to ensure Origin Group’s success in the state.
In response, Prince J. Samuel, a representative of Origin Group, expressed enthusiasm over the partnership, noting that Adamawa’s ranking as the third-safest state in Nigeria played a key role in the company’s decision to invest.
Samuel commended the governor’s proactive stance on agriculture and outlined the company’s initial plans, which include cultivating 25,000 hectares of farmland, collaborating with the state government on input support funding, developing tomato farming, and enhancing key agricultural value chains.
“With Governor Fintiri’s leadership and the backing of the private sector, Adamawa is set to witness a new wave of agricultural development that will not only boost the economy but also empower thousands of youths,” Samuel said.
The partnership, as gathered by The Guardian, marks a significant step in the state’s drive to harness agriculture as a tool for sustainable development and job creation.
