Akwaaba combines tourism with sports at summit

The 22nd edition of Akwaaba African Travel Market would bring African sports and tourism together at its second African Tour Operators Summit in Lagos in September.

The summit, which would be held from September 13 through 15, would involve tour operators from East Africa and West Africa.

The convener of the summit, Ikechi Uko, said that the event would enable tour operators to network and jointly build packages for AFCON 2027.

Uko stated that the first edition of the summit was held in 2018. The organiser added that as part of the summit this year, the Africa Travel 100 Awards for African Tour Operators would be held on September 14.

The awards would honour African tour operators that promote and market African destinations to Africans, he emphasised.

“Akwaaba African Travel Market is the biggest travel expo in West Africa and one of the top five in Africa,” Uko added.

In 2022, Akwaaba was recognised with an Award of Excellence in Tourism by the Nigerian Government and United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
