NCAA warns pilots against working with multiple airlines
Amidst safety concerns, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has warned flight crew members, especially pilots against working for multiple airlines concurrently.
The authority warned that such actions could pose a threat to safety and would be treated as a violation of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.
The Acting Director General of NCAA Capt Chris Najomo in a letter titled Prohibition of Ad-Hoc Flight Operators for Multiple Airlines Background,’ said that the unprofessional conduct was discovered by its surveillance reports
He noted that the license issued to the pilot or any member of the flight crew is operator-specific based on the approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The NCAA boss said he observed that flight crew members utilise the privileges simulators and proficiency checks endorsed on their license to operate for multiple airlines.
According to him, instances where pilots operate for more than one airline concurrently pose a safety risk.

He said the license issued to the pilot or any member of the flight crew is operator-specific based on the approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
“The Authority will take appropriate enforcement action on violators of this directive, effective from 11th November 2024,” he said.
