The Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN) has announced plans to use its 2026 International Insolvency Conference to examine ways of strengthening Nigeria’s insolvency, restructuring and business recovery framework amid changing global economic conditions.

The two-day conference, themed “Building an Insolvency Architecture for a New World Order,” is scheduled for September 24 and 25 at the Civic Centre, Lagos.

The event is expected to bring together insolvency practitioners, regulators, policymakers, judges, legal professionals, financial experts, business leaders, academics and development partners to examine the future of insolvency and business recovery in Nigeria and beyond.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the conference, BRIPAN Vice President and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, Abiodun Ariyibi, said the event was coming at a time when businesses and economies globally were confronting significant challenges and opportunities.

He said economic uncertainty, technological disruption, evolving regulatory frameworks, climate-related risks and changing stakeholder expectations were reshaping the business environment and increasing the importance of effective insolvency and business recovery systems.

“As Nigeria continues its journey toward economic transformation, the conversations taking place at this conference are critical. We must collectively examine how our insolvency architecture can respond to emerging realities while aligning with global best practices,” he said.

Ariyibi said stakeholders must explore innovative solutions, leverage technology, strengthen regulatory frameworks and improve collaboration across the insolvency ecosystem.

He stressed that modern insolvency practice should go beyond managing business failure to creating pathways for recovery, restructuring and renewal.
