BUA presents medical items to healthcare centers

BUA Cement Company has presented drugs and other medical items to seven Primary Healthcare Centres in the Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The company donated N10million worth of items to Police Mobile Barrack, Gidan, Kusu, Wajeke, Sabon-Gari Alu, Kalambaina, and Sabon-Gari Gidan Bello and Arkilla clinics.

Director of Marketing Services, Abdulganiyyu Yusuf who presented the items said the gesture was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

He added it was to complement the efforts of the State Government in enhancing healthcare delivery.

In his remark, Assistant Director, Administration and Corporate Services of BUA Cement, Sada Suleiman, said: “This is an annual event that we do as part of our CSR. We do this every year, and we make sure that those clinics do not lack drugs for one year. These drugs are not for sale; they are free to all the communities, especially children and pregnant women.”

Suleiman said besides drugs, the cement company supports its host communities in education, infrastructural development, and empowerment.

“At the moment, we are giving scholarships to students schooling in various higher institutions across the country from these communities.’’

Executive Secretary, Sokoto State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SSPHCDA), Abdullahi Romo, applauded BUA Cement’s gesture.

Romo said the donation would enhance access to healthcare services and reduce the burden on families.

He urged other corporate organisations and wealthy individuals to take a cue from the company.

District Head of Arkilla, Alhaji Aliyu Liman, who responded on the behalf of the communities, expressed appreciation for the support. He noted that it would impact the well-being of the people positively.
