EXCITEMENT and jubilation reigned in the air when top winners, including a bricklayer, emerged in the Golden Penny Semovita Open and Win Promo held in Lagos recently.

The Golden Penny Semovita Open and Win Promo, which began from   November last year, were   meant   to reward   consumers   of I kilogramme (Kg) and 2kg of Golden Penny Semovita only.

Consumers, who bought any of the specially marked packs, were earlier rewarded with instant   consolation prizes, such as standing fans, table-top fridges, table top- cookers, cartons of 200 gramme Macaroni, cartons   of 70 gramme of noodles   and different large packs of Semovita.

The consolation prizes   automatically   qualified    those that participated    in the three-month    promo for a raffle draw.

During the raffle draw in the week, 27-year old Miss Ozioma Eronini, an accountant, carted away    the grand prize of Kia Sportage jeep, a sport utility vehicle (SUVs). While a bricklayer, Mr. Evans Nnamdi, won the second prize of Kia Picanto car a 10 KVA (kilovolt-ampere) generator set was won   by Mr. Adulateef Adebayo, an Ibadan-based businessman, who sells kitchen utensils.

The draw was conducted   at   presence   of external observers    from   the Lagos   State    Lotteries Board and   media.  Although   all the raffle draw   winners were not present at the   venue    of the draw, calls   were immediately   put through to them by    officials   of   Flour Mills of Nigeria, makers   of Golden Penny Semovita, to announce the winning.

When contacted over the phone, 32-year old Nnamdi revealed that the   Kia Picanto car would be his   first car, adding that it would help to uplift the fortunes   of his   family greatly.  He explained that he    was not aware of the promo   until a woman whom he hand his wife had gone   to cook     for in the course    of their business, informed them    of the promo. “  Immediately, we switched   from   5kg and 10kg   of Golden Penny Semovita to 1kg and 2 kg    of the product.  And the reward is this Kia Picanto car,” the Abia State born- man added.

Eronini, who resides in Festac Town Lagos, explained that she was excited with   the reward, adding that the car would be her first car.

The winners are expected to be in Lagos    on February 11 to receive their prizes.

Floor Mill Product Manager, Mrs. Chinenye Akukwe, explained that the   promo was aimed to shore up   market volume   for the small packs among household consumers, adding that 5kg and 10kg sizes   were known to be more popular among restaurant and hotel operators.
