Credit bureaux assess Pointek customers for loans

Pointek, Nigeria’s retail store for technology products, says it is working with the credit bureaux to determine the creditworthiness

Pointek, Nigeria’s retail store for technology products, says it is working with the credit bureaux to determine the creditworthiness of customers that require loans to buy its products.

Its Business Manager, Jimoh Mustapha, said this at the unveiling of ex-Big Brother Nigeria housemate and radio personality, Ozoemena ‘Ozo’ Chukwu, as its new brand ambassador, while explaining how what a customer can access depends on their credit rating.

“For us, we have a lot of products and services we have been offering. The new brand ambassador resonates with the Pointeck brand. If you want to get a device and you do not have as much as the worth of the device, you can buy and pay in instalment. But it all depends on the customers’ credit rating because we work with a credit bureau, which does the rating of the customers. And based on the rating, we determine how much the customer can access,” he said.

The Managing Director, Emeka Oguchi, said under the brand ambassador partnership agreement, the reality television star would headline Pointek’s extensive list of trusted quality phone brands and accessories while driving its reputation as one of the most reliable consumer electronic chains in the country.

“Apart from our intensive focus on providing consumer satisfaction, innovation in service delivery remains essential for the Pointek brand,” he said, adding that the company has “has consistently invested in supporting communities, including through training and job creation.”
