
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has partnered the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to combat the persistent revenue leakages and enhance the country’s revenue generation.
The Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, while disclosing this Abuja, said the collaborative initiative seeks to align strategies and pool resources to maximise the remittance of accrued revenues to the Federal Government.
Recall that the NCS has lamented revenue leakages from importers who under-declare their consignments and smugglers.
The Customs boss expressed his unwavering commitment to the partnership while emphasising the collective responsibility for minimising revenue leakages and maximising remittances of accrued revenue to the FG.
He commended RMAFC for their relentless pursuit of solutions to revenue challenges while highlighting the pivotal role the collaboration could play in achieving their shared objectives.
Chairman of RMAFC, Muhammad Shehu Umar, said the collaboration signifies a united front in the battle against revenue leakages and underscores the commitment of these two institutions to safeguarding the country’s financial interests.
According to him, the partnership between the Nigeria Customs Service and RMAFC promotes fortifying the nation’s finances and mitigating revenue losses as well as ultimately bolstering the country’s economic resilience.
Umar reaffirmed his unwavering support for the Customs boss’s mission to boost revenue generation, echoing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emphasis on this vital effort.
He further praised the Nigeria Customs Service’s strides in facilitating trade across the nation, recognising that these efforts would catalyse increased revenue generation.
