For Idowu Oluwatobiloba Michael, getting into business was never a straight-line journey. It started with fish farming, moved into shortlet accommodation and has now grown into a bigger vision in real estate development.

A native of Ekiti State, Michael studied Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, graduating in 2017. Although his academic background was in engineering, his first step into entrepreneurship was through fish farming.

Running the business gave him his first real experience of what it meant to build and manage a business, make decisions, manage resources and take responsibility for the outcome.

He later moved into the property space and established Wills Shortlet, a short-term accommodation business that is still operating today. After spending several years in the shortlet business, Michael began to see property from a different perspective.

He was no longer only interested in managing or providing accommodation in properties. He started thinking about how he could build the properties himself.

That thinking led to the establishment of Willstone Concepts Limited, a real estate development and construction company focused on residential properties.

For Michael, the move into construction was a natural step. His background in civil engineering, combined with his years of experience in the property business, gave him the confidence to take on the development side of the industry.

One of the projects through Willstone Concepts is Aurelia Court, a residential development along the Katampe Main axis in Abuja. The project reflects Michael’s interest in creating homes that combine modern design, comfort, security and good living spaces.

The company’s philosophy, “Where Stone Meets Vision,” speaks to what Michael wants Willstone Concepts to represent — taking an idea and turning it into something real, solid and lasting.

Today, he continues to run Wills Shortlet while building Willstone Concepts into his main real estate development platform.

From fish farming to shortlets and now construction and real estate development, Michael’s story is simply about taking one step, learning from it and using that experience to take the next.

With Willstone Concepts, he hopes to build quality homes, create value for property owners and investors, and establish a real estate company that people can trust.
