Accion Microfinance Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening customer relationships and advancing financial inclusion through a regional customer engagement forum held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking at the South-South Regional Customer Forum, which also forms part of activities marking the bank’s 20th anniversary, Chairman of the Board, Christian Ruehmer, said direct engagement with customers provides valuable insight into their needs and aspirations, helping to strengthen governance and shape the bank’s long-term strategy.
In a statement, the bank said feedback from customers enables it to create lasting value for individuals, businesses and communities.
A non-executive director, Gift Mahubo, said the forum reflected the bank’s commitment to ensuring customer perspectives influence strategic decision-making, stressing that financial inclusion is most effective when it responds to the realities of the people it is designed to serve.
Group Head, Operations, Ayodeji Mebude, said customer feedback remains critical to improving the bank’s products, services and overall service delivery, while thanking customers for their continued confidence in the institution.
A major highlight of the forum was an interactive question-and-answer session during which customers raised issues relating to customer service, loan accessibility, digital banking and other aspects of the bank’s operations. Management responded to the concerns and reiterated the bank’s commitment to continuously improving its services based on customer feedback.
Regional Bank Head for the South-South and South-East, Amaechi Madu, said the region continues to demonstrate strong entrepreneurial potential, adding that the engagement would enable the bank to understand customers’ realities better and provide solutions that support business growth and improve everyday banking experiences.
Some customers commended the bank for its support to small businesses and welcomed the opportunity to engage directly with its leadership. The bank also presented appreciation gifts to long-standing customers in recognition of their loyalty, while all participants received commemorative gifts.
