NADDC partners firm on automotive design software training

The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has taken step to enhance skill acquisition on Software development for automotive design in the auto industry.
Speaking in Abuja at the training programme organised by the NADDC in collaboration with Midas IT Co. of South Korea, the NADDC Director General, Mr Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin disclosed that the training of some Engineers on Midas NFX software automotive Design Skill Boot camp was conceived by the Council to address the over one billion dollars the country loses to import components parts of vehicles.
“The country spends over one billion dollars each year on imported spare parts. This massive expenditure underscores the urgent need for local production capabilities and advanced design training to reduce dependency on foreign imports and stimulate economic growth,” he said.
The Director General emphasized that the automotive aftermarket represented a significant economic opportunity and harnessing local talent to design and manufacture the component parts such as batteries, brake pads, lubricants, and filters could stimulate job creation and enhance self-sufficiency.
He urged the participants to utilize the opportunity for skill development in the interest of the industry and their personal growth.
Also speaking, the Managing Director FAZSAL Nigeria Limited, Dr. Abdullawal Zubair commended the NADDC boss for creating the platform and opportunity to train the participants.
“The D-G has provided this department with enough tools. You have 3D Scanner, 3D Printer, so you can print or produce anything as the 3D Scanner you have is the best in the world,” he said.
In this strategic effort of the Council, about 24 participants were set to be trained, with a target of training 100 Engineers over the next year, as the initiative aims to equip local assemblers and manufacturers with essential knowledge bridging the gap between theory and practice.
The training is targeted at enhancing local expertise and paving the way for the development of locally produced spare parts, ultimately saving the country a significant amount of currency.
