NASENI unveils environment-friendly products to aid industrialisation

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has explained that it was working to make available, primary and intermediate capital products required for machine and equipment design, fabrication and mass production to provide the enabling environment for sustainable industrialisation in the country.

Executive Vice-Chairman, NASENI, Prof Sanni Haruna, made the remarks at the 2019 Edition Science and Technology EXPO held in Enugu state.

According to him, “our efforts have been yielding fruits and showing much promising prospect”, adding that it is the intention of the agency to continuously sustain the tempo.

He disclosed that NASENI, through her institutes spread across the six geo-political zones of Nigeria, has been able to turn out numerous products some of which have been deployed to use in different industries. Also, our services have impacted lives and businesses; from intervention in water, energy, transportation and agriculture just to mention a few.

“We have participated in numerous expos, trade fairs, seminars, lectures and many other functions where we have been able to showcase so many products of long-reaching value to the development of the country, Nigeria.

“Today, at this year’ Science, Technology and innovation Expo (EXPO 2019) of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, we are once again proud to showcase a number of our numerous products, many of which are entirely new and are outcomes of our research and development activities directed at the sustainable growth of the economy in support of the ERGP.”

He acknowledged that in keeping with the tradition of new products development, the agency this year, is exhibiting about 17 products, of which three have been designated star products.

“These products were selected after rigorous and strict consideration by selection committee from the Agency and are considered novel, critical and cutting edge technology that can easily catalyze national development in different fields that these products are to be used”, he said.

The showcased star products for the expo 2019 are: Mechatronics Training KitGlass produced from Agricultural Waste, and Smart Prepaid Energy Meter and their features and uniqueness.
