NBC recommits to socioeconomic development in Nigeria
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), has reaffirmed its commitment to scaling socioeconomic impact in the country, as it unveiled its maiden Sustainability Report with focus on social and environmental stewardship for 2016 and 2017.
General Manager, Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (CCHBC) Nigeria, Georgios Polymenakos, said: “As we celebrate the 67th anniversary of NBC operations in Nigeria, we reflect on its journey since inception, and how we have made significant impact in the social, economic and environmental landscape in Nigeria
Polymenakos described the era under review as challenging, and marked by economic recession, foreign exchange volatility, insurgency in the North-East, and rising youth unemployment.
Despite the headwinds, he said NBC continued on the path of growth. “We are proud of our employees for their resilience and commitment,” adding that sustainability is at the heart of the company’s business model, because a sustainable business can only thrive in a sustainable community.
“This is our major motivation in mainstreaming corporate social responsibility into our business strategy, and investing time, energy, and enormous resources in positively impacting our communities.”
Public Affairs and Communications Director, NBC, Ekuma Eze, said the report features the impact of the company’s investment in youths, women empowerment, health, environment, human capacity building, and education.
