Following the recent protest by Okomu community in Ovia South West Local Council in Edo State, Okomu Oil Plc has promised to sustain its Corporate Social Responsibility in the area.

The community had protested against alleged wrongful acquisition of their lands without paying them any compensation. The Managing Director of the company, Dr. Graham Hefar, made the pledge when he hosted over 25 community leaders in an interactive session in Okomu.

He reiterated the need for the communities to have the right information adding that “What we try to do is to make sure, we communicate very well with our respective communities to make sure everybody understands what we are trying to do to work together as a team.

“Although it used to be an annual interactive meeting, we have decided to hold it twice a year to give room for wider exchange of views and ideas. We are talking of a situation such as this where we have one at the beginning of the year and another towards the ending of the year,” he said.
