Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA) has revealed a plan to unveil a book, titled, ‘Modern Insurance Practice,’ which will be distributed to tertiary institutions across the country.
The President of the association, Nkechi Margaret Moore, disclosed this at a press briefing to outline activities marking its 50th anniversary coming up June 21, 2023, in Lagos.
PILA is a leading professional association that promotes gender equality and empowers women in the insurance industry in Nigeria.
The association provides a supportive network, professional development opportunities and advocacy platforms for women in the sector.
They underlined some of the significant accomplishments, such as organising professional development programmes, mentorship, insurance awareness initiatives/career talks in schools and networking opportunities.
Moore said the association’s primary focus has been on empowering women to excel in the insurance industry by offering training, capacity-building workshops and platforms for knowledge sharing and networking.
She added that PILA also championed the establishment of the African Insurance Women’s Association (AIWA), which was admitted as a member of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) and inaugurated at a side event during the just-concluded 49th AIO Conference in Algiers, Algeria.
Also, the past President of PILA and former Presidential of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, (CIIN), Mrs. Oluseyi Ifaturoti, said PILA’s 50th-anniversary celebration is a testament to the dedication of its members to transforming the insurance industry despite the challenges confronted by women in the industry.
She said the press conference served as a platform to reflect on PILA’s remarkable achievements, recognise the contributions of its members as well as stakeholders and outline the association’s future objectives.
