The Stanbic IBTC Holdings has awarded scholarships to 200 undergraduates across Nigeria as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

The financial institution issued out the scholarship certificates to the youths at a ceremony at its head office in Lagos, urging the beneficiaries to see it as a call to serviceand let the light shine brightly for all to see.

The Chief Executive Officer, Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Dr Demola Shogunle, said the 2023/2024 Stanbic IBTC University Scholarship is a reward for hard work, celebration of excellence as well as help the youth to pursue their goals in education.

He said: “We gave only the outstanding students. Education is a key pillar of corporate social investment and we consider it very important to educate the young ones because it will unlock their potentials, fostering growth and build the nation.

“In these young scholars, we see more than just students; we see future leaders, innovators, and trailblazers who will chart new courses and push the boundaries of what is possible for our nation and the world.

“At Stanbic IBTC, we believe that education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world, and this fuels our commitment to the University Scholarship Programme, which since its inception in 2019 has sought to empower brilliant young minds, who due to financial constraints might find it difficult to realise their academic potential.

“This year, from over 16,000 applicants, we have meticulously selected 200 outstanding scholars through a rigorous process that assessed their academic excellence, leadership potential, and desire to impact their communities and the nation significantly.

“We envision a Nigeria where every child can achieve their fullest potential regardless of background. A Nigeria where education is the great equaliser, providing a ladder for everyone to climb towards their dreams,” he said.
