StabWONDERS, they say, shall never end. This translates into what took place at the weekend in a tiny village in Umuawam Ubomiri, in Mbaitoli Local Council of Imo State, when a teenage girl, whose name is yet to be disclosed, an SSS2 student of the famous Akwakuma Girls Secondary School, Owerri, allegedly stabbed to death her erstwhile boyfriend simply known as, Opia, who hails from a neighbouring village, Egbeada, in the same Mbaitoli Local Council of the State.

The corpse of the victim, a source said, has been deposited in a nearby morgue where the incident happened.

According to other sources that confided in The Guardian, the deceased had been allegedly dating the schoolgirl for over three years, adding that he suddenly gathered from some quarters that she had started dating another man in defiance to what the duo agreed upon, to keep faith with each other.

The deceased, the sources disclosed, on hearing about the new boyfriend, went to accost her in a hushed tone to return the handset he bought for her.

The request was resisted by the girl who was reported to have headed into a room and brought out a knife with which she allegedly stabbed the young man in the stomach twice, leading to his death.

On hearing about the young man’s death, youths from Egbeada expressed their anger in a reprisal attack, destroying property in the girl’s village, Umuawam, after searching for her in futility. Police sources said they are still investigating the matter.
