Govt commissions maiden electricity project in Enugu's council
ABOUT 13 years after its creation, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu's Aninri Local Council of Enugu State went agog on Wednesday as its first electricity project was commissioned.
It was indeed a delight to watch as children, young boys and girls, men, women and elderly leapt in frenzy and joyous celebrations as Ekweremadu, who facilitated the project, turned the hobs to switch on the lights, thus ending the nightmarish of the council.
The N490 million project awarded by the Federal Government under the Rural Electrification Scheme was almost abandoned following the scrapping of the agency but for Ekweremadu, who hails from the council, that gave the contractor necessary encouragement which ensured the completion of the project.
