The Kaduna State Government says it will accelerate the transformation of its education sector into a technology-driven and globally competitive system.
The Commissioner for Education, Abubakar Sani Sambo, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the state is strengthening digital learning and international academic partnerships.
According to him, the state government has already sent a high-powered delegation of academics to the 2026 Research in Distance and E-Learning (RIDE) Conference held at the University of London.
He said the delegation, made up of five professors, engaged global experts in digital, blended, and distance education.
The team also held discussions with the University of London Centre for Online and Distance Education (CODE), where it showcased research from Kaduna State University (KASU).
Sambo explained that the engagement opened pathways for institutional collaboration between KASU and the University of London aimed at strengthening capacity in digital and distance learning.
He further disclosed that the state would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both institutions to enhance online education delivery.
According to him, a pilot Central Learning Management System (LMS) will be introduced at KASU as a model for wider implementation, while selected academics will receive training in digital pedagogy and course delivery.
He added that both institutions will also embark on joint research and academic exchange programmes, with CODE providing technical support for digital learning infrastructure.
Sambo said the conference validated ongoing reforms in Kaduna’s education sector, particularly the expansion of hybrid learning and computer-based testing systems.
He noted that the Research in Distance and E-Learning conference commended efforts by the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) in strengthening digital tools and promoting equitable access to education.
The statement also highlighted initiatives aimed at reaching out-of-school children through flexible and distance learning models, aligning with global best practices in blended education.
Members of the Kaduna delegation included the Vice Chancellor of KASU, Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa; Prof. Yusha’u Ango; Prof. Usman Abubakar Zaria, Director-General of KSSQAA; and Dr. Fatima Shehu Kabir of the Institute of Education, KASU, among others.
