If you want to see where the future of scholarship, healthcare training, and all-round excellence in Nigeria is being built, come to Gregory University Uturu, GUU.

The 2025 to 2026 academic session has redefined this young university. In just one year, GUU has moved from fast-rising to undisputed leader.

On March 28, 2026, GUU’s College of Medicine and Health Sciences was admitted into the Association of Medical Schools in Africa, AMSA — a global stamp of quality.
In August 2026, GUU 500-Level student Enukora Lucky represented Nigeria at the IFMSA General Assembly in Kazakhstan, the only delegate from a private university and the only one from the South East. GUU is now on the world map.

In a major milestone, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Full Accreditation to all GUU programmes assessed up to the 2026 Academic Session.

Accredited programmes now include: MBBS, Pharm.D, BNSc Nursing, Optometry, Engineering, Law, and all Management & Social Sciences programmes.

Reacting, VC Prof. Cele U. Njoku said: “This confirms GUU is now a complete destination for professional education. We are producing doctors, pharmacists, nurses, optometrists, engineers, lawyers, and business leaders who will compete globally.”
Chancellor Sir Gregory Iyke Ibe Jnr reaffirmed commitment to world-class facilities.

GUU now has the full triad of health professions accredited. The game-changer is the 1000-bed Teaching Hospital at Ezinnachi, nearing completion. No other private university in the South East has clinical infrastructure at that scale. It will make GUU the centre for clinical training, research, and healthcare delivery for generations.

The session recorded multiple graduations of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, lab scientists and physiotherapists — proof of efficient, practical training to meet Nigeria’s health needs.
On the field, GUU shocked older institutions by finishing 2nd overall at the maiden Abia State Tertiary Schools Sports Fiesta — proof of a balanced brain-and-body education model.

Beyond skills, GUU is producing professionals with competence and conscience at a time when Nigeria’s health and public sector needs both.

With AMSA recognition, global student leadership, full NUC accreditation, massive hospital infrastructure, sports feats, and ethical training, the message is clear:
