Identify your purpose in life, minister tells Chrisland graduates

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has urged graduating students of Chrisland School to discover and focus on their life’s purpose as they move into a new phase.

Speaking at the joint valedictory ceremony of the ‘Class of 2025’ held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, the minister encouraged the students to prepare for the challenges ahead by setting clear goals and staying focused.

“I want to appeal to you that as young graduates, you are moving into a new and different level of life. I enjoin you to identify your purpose; it’s very important,” he said.

The minister noted that without a clear purpose, life can be meaningless and directionless.

On his part, an Associate Professor in the Department of Arts, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Luqman Adedeji, pointed out that adulthood comes with independence and responsibility.

“As you are going into the larger world, you are going into the world of the unknown; a point is coming in your life where your parents will not be there all the time, you have to guide yourself,” he said.

The founder of Chrisland Schools, Dr Winifred Awosika, encouraged the students to live by the values they were taught.

“Remember everything you have been taught and also show forth the light. You know where there is light; there is no darkness. So, as you go into the world, you will never depart from the light,” she said.

Peter Oludipe of the Church of Nigeria, Ijebu Diocese, also emphasised the need to put God first.

“To find your purpose, you need to put God first. He is the one who has the blueprint of your life.”
