The Lighthouse University, Evbuobanosa, Edo State, on Sunday, received its pioneer students into various faculties and departments for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Chancellor of Lighthouse University, Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, disclosed this in a chat with newsmen shortly after he met with the senior management staff of the institution at Evbuobanosa.

Lighthouse University, which is a privately owned institution situated in the fast-developing Evbuobanosa community, along the Benin–Agbor Expressway in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, was last year granted an operational license by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Omobude noted that studying at Lighthouse University will allow the students to join a global network of students from various backgrounds, opening doors to international opportunities and collaborations.

According to him, Lighthouse University offers a wide range of programs designed to foster critical thinking, innovation, and excellence, noting that the institution’s faculties and departments are working tirelessly to ensure that students receive a holistic education that prepares them for real-world challenges.

The Chancellor added that the institution is not just coming to make a number, but it would be providing quality education to prospective individuals and will ensure the production of globally competitive graduates grounded in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Omobude, who is also the former national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), expressed gladness and gratitude to the Almighty God for making his dream a reality.

Omobude expressed optimism that everything possible will be done for the rapid progress and development of the young university while performing its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) to the host community (Evbuobanosa), which is also his ancestral community.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of Lighthouse University, Prof. Anthony Imianvan, expressed delight that academic activities have commenced in full swing in the university, saying that there was still room for more qualified students desirous of the school.

He noted that the university is committed to providing top-tier education, supported by a diverse and inclusive learning environment that reflects global perspectives.

Some elated pioneer students of Lighthouse University who spoke to newsmen described the school as a place to be, saying that the infrastructure and serenity of the school environment are highly conducive to learning.

According to Miss Oyemwen Ofure Favour, of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), “The school is very nice, friendly, and accommodating. You’ll enjoy it.”

Miss Testimony of the Department of Social Studies says, “The school is very conducive and good for learning, and we (students) are happy to be here.”
