Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced that it will suspend the sale of petrol in naira from Sunday, September 28, 2025, citing the exhaustion of its crude allocations.
In a statement issued by its Group Commercial Operations, the refinery explained that it had been selling petroleum products beyond its allocated quota for naira-denominated crude and could no longer sustain local currency transactions.
The company said customers who had made payments for petrol in naira and wished to request refunds should formally apply for processing.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has been selling petroleum products in excess of our naira-crude allocations and, consequently, we are unable to sustain PMS sales in naira going forward. Kindly note that this suspension of naira sales for PMS will be effective from Sunday, 28th of September, 2025,” the statement read.
The refinery assured stakeholders that updates on the resumption of supply would be communicated once the situation is resolved.
