The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) reported that Nigeria’s non-oil export earnings reached $3.225 billion in the first half of 2025. This represents a 19.59 per cent increase compared to the $2.696 billion recorded during the same period in 2024.
Nonye Ayeni, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NEPC, disclosed the figures on Sunday in Abuja while presenting the council’s First Half-Year Progress Report on Nigeria’s non-oil export performance. She explained that shipment volumes also rose to 4.04 million metric tonnes in H1 2025, up from 3.83 million metric tonnes in H1 2024.
According to Ayeni, the growth was largely driven by increased global demand for Nigerian products from emerging markets, including India, Brazil, Vietnam, and various African countries. She emphasised the significance of the data in providing a detailed overview of the council’s activities, challenges faced, and future outlook.
“Gentlemen of the press, it is on this note that I am pleased to inform you that non-oil products exported in the first half of 2025 were valued at $3.225 billion. This shows an increase of 19.59 per cent as against the sum of $2.696 billion recorded for the first half of the year 2024,” she said.
Ayeni further noted that in the first quarter of 2025 alone, non-oil exports were valued at $1.791 billion, marking a 24.75 per cent rise compared to $1.436 billion in Q1 2024. Shipment volumes in the same quarter increased to 2.416 million metric tonnes, up 24.3 per cent from 1.937 million metric tonnes recorded in Q1 2024.
