Total donates classroom blocks to community


Total Nigeria PLC has donated two classroom blocks to the Ibafon Nursery Primary school at Olodi- Apapa in Lagos state.During the commissioning of the project in Lagos the Total Managing Director, Jean-Philippe Torres said the actualization of the project was as a result of stakeholder interactions between the community, the school and Total.
Torres who was represented by the company’ s General Manager, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Bunmi Popoola-Mordi noted that the school was chosen because it was within the company’s Apapa Depot facility,hence the move to their economic and social growth.
Poppola who described the project as a commitment of a sizeable amount observed that the fully furnished renovated classroom blocks would resolve the problem of overcrowding of pupils hitherto to the project.
She added that the dilapidated nature of the school was noticed two years ago when the company had a malaria intervention outreach and has attracted the management since.Also at the event was Executive Chairman, Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area, Fatai Ayoola who promised to complement Total’s efforts by providing electricity for the school as well as other schools in the area within the next four years.
Adding to that, Ayoola ordered with immediate effect the reconstruction of the teachers building in the school and also the flooring of the place to avoid flood.The school’ s headmistress, Caroline Balogun while appreciating the gesture by total also appealed for the company to deploy its solar energy technology to electrify the place.
