Abia knocks NBA for criticizing re-arrest, prosecution of lawyer
The lawyer is being prosecuted by the police for alleging in social media that the governor traveled to India and took an oath before a Hindu god to mortgage Abia state.
But Agbazuere stated that the governor has not in all his life travelled to India where he was alleged to take an oath before a Hindu god.
Addressing journalists in his office, he regretted that the NBA National Publicity Secretary, Kunle Edun could issue such statement, flaying the government and demanding for the release of the lawyer without making any attempt to speak with the government, upon which a national daily published a report.
But Ogbonna, who was said to have denied being the originator of the post on Facebook, explained that he only re-shared it.
Agbazuere pointed out that paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of the NBA Press Statement clearly confirmed that at least, Mr. Ogbonna accepted that he re-shared a post in his Facebook page that Governor Ikpeazu went to India and took an oath before a Hindu god to mortgage Abia state including other posts on the issue.
“Governor Ikpeazu as a law-abiding citizen, reported this case of Cybercrime to the Police who arrested him (Ogbonna) and charged him before Federal High Court in Umuahia for Cybercrime and not for terrorism as the NBA release misinformed.”
“On 28th April 2020, the Federal High Court in Umuahia granted Ogbonna bail and adjourned the matter to 25th of May 2020 for hearing”, Agbazuere said, adding that no government official even attended the court session on that 28th April or entered the court premises for any arrest.
