Bayero names Pate, pioneer Dean, Faculty of Communications and Film Studies

As part of efforts aimed at ensuring better professionalism in the field of communication, Bayero University, Kano, (BUK) has created a Faculty of Communications and Film Studies, after it was approved by the Senate, Council of the BUK and endorsed by the Nigerian University Commission (NUC).

The Faculty, it was gathered, will take off with three Departments: Communication Studies, Theatre and Performing Arts and Information and Media Studies, while Film Studies will follow shortly. To oversee the affairs of the new faculty is Prof. Umaru A. Pate, as the pioneer Dean with Dr Suleiman Yar’adua as Deputy. Other officers are Dr. Hajara Sanada (Sub-Dean; Academics and Dr. Mainasara Kurfi, Sub-Dean, Facilities and Dr. Nura Ibrahim, Faculty Examinations Officer.
