In view of the high demand for medical oxygen in Nigerian hospitals, some private initiatives had emerged with the intention to support government efforts.

One of such initiatives was the brainchild of LifeBank Limited. Aside from the oxygen plat sited in Lagos State, the company yesterday launched another AirCo-Oxygen Plant in the Orozo area of Nasarawa State.

The occasion was graced by the state government and other stakeholders in the health sector. They include the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe; Commissioner for Health, Yahaya Baba Ahmed; Representative of the Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr Ifeanyi Abali and the Director-General, Nasarawa Investment & Development Agency (NASIDA), Dr Gaza Gwamna.

Stating the reason for locating the plant in Nasarawa State, the Chief Executive Officer, LifeBank, Temie Giwa-Tubosun, attributed it to the attitude of the State Government towards health care delivery, innovation and belief in the imperative of public, private partnership for accelerated development.

Giwa-Tubosun said: “What set Nasarawa State apart are the shared ingenuity of the people, commitment to bringing change and the willingness of its government to work hard with the private sector to innovate in a way that solves problems.

“Innovation is the path that will allow our country to live up to its promise.

“By working with LifeBank and our team, Nasarawa State has shown itself to be Nigeria’s home of innovation that drives impact. We are so glad to bring this plant with the capacity to the state.

The elated deputy governor in his remarks commended LifeBank for choosing the state for the life-saving project. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to embracing partnerships that will bring development to the state.

The LifeBank team expressed excitement at the innovation which they believe will improve the quality of healthcare that hospitals currently provide within Nasarawa State and its environs.

The management informed that AirCo is a technical and data-driven oxygen PSA plant meant to serve the people of Nasarawa State and the North Central.

“LifeBank’s goal is to use this technological innovation to save the lives of the most vulnerable because lack of access to much-needed supplies had led to avoidable deaths in the country.”
