Justice Hakeem Oshodi of a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has dismissed the application filed by Haven Global Resources Ltd and two of its directors, Ufuoma Ukueku and Mr. Tayo Sonuga against the Commissioner of Police and others for lack of merit.

The suit was filed against the Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit (SFU), Lagos, the Nigerian Police and Rita Umoren.

While dismissing the application and exemplary damages of N50million sought against the respondents, the judge held that the 1st Applicant’s (Ukeuku) rights as guaranteed under section 35 (5) of the Nigerian constitution was not violated by the respondents.

He said that there is no constitutional breach when a party makes a report to the Police alleging a crime has been committed.
