AIFA Reading Society rewards winners
AIFA Reading Society has rewarded students and teachers who emerged winners at its “Little Writers Awards,” ceremony held recently in Enugu State.Speaking at the event, Director of the society and Principal, Kenna Partners, Professor Fabian Ajogwu, SAN, urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of reading at all levels in view of its benefits to national advancement.
At the competition, which was the maiden one for junior and senior schools categories in the East, Professor Patrick Ngwu, of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) delivered a keynote address, which was on the topic, “The Importance of Reading Culture in the Society.” Chairman of the Post Primary School Management Board (PPSMB), Enugu, Nestor Ezeme, chaired the event.
Some of the winners in the junior category include Miss Ogbobe Maria Goretti and Miss Ogbobe Monica, of Christ Secondary School (CSS), Abbi/Ugene, and Master Ugwu David, of Christ Secondary School, (CSS), Nimbo, who finished first, second and third in that order.
In the senior category, it was a clean sweep for CSS, Abbie/Ugene, again as the school produced the top three winners, who are Miss Ajogwu Felicia Chinenye, Master Agu Michael and Master Uburozo Alphonsus.
Also Mr. Emeka Lazarus of CSS), Abbie/Ugene came tops in the teacher’s category, while Mrs. Eze Beatrice Chinwe, of CSS Nimbo, and Mr. Eze Johnson Uche of CSS, Abbie/Ugene, finished second and third respectively.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Emeka Lazarus, expressed delight at the society’s keen interest in encouraging excellent reading culture and practices in the state.
