Akoka High School Old Students Association, yesterday, called on the Lagos State government to return the institution to a full-fledged secondary school from the current junior cadre.
President-General of the association, Dr. Oladele Oyatope, made the appeal during a press conference to announce activities to mark the school’s 45th anniversary.
According to him, the school was a full-fledged secondary school that had students in Junior Secondary School 1 to Senior Secondary School 3. He said that as a result of policy change, the state government converted the learning institution into a junior school, which the alumni decried.
Oyatope stated that the joy of the alumni is to see the school return to its original state.
He added that the group is ready to support and provide some logistics to hasten the process. Oyatope mlauded the Lateef Jakande’s administration for establishing the school and providing free education, which helped many of his colleagues to acquire formal education.
