Prof. David Obongekong David today, is a leading figure in starting and propelling various youth-led initiatives across Africa. He founded one of the READS campaigns in Africa, aimed at ending child molestation. He has used this as a platform to fight for rights and well-being of children. Prof David is an active advocate for the inclusion of climate education into the Nigerian curriculum and has successfully launched the Climate Education Leaders Fellowship earlier last year to educate the next generation of environmental activists.
As an educator and has worked as a creative writing Associate Professor for five years and was appointed a Professor of comparative literature at El ROI London University and a visiting Professor at Weldios University of Management and Technology.
He was born in his hometown, Akai Ubium in Nsit-Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He attended Salvation Army Schools, Akai Ubium for his primary and secondary education, before sailing out of his little community for further studies. He holds a Ph.D. from the prestigious Shield of Faith Bible College, California, USA.
Professor David is also known for contributing to the establishment of indigenous record-keeping culture in several universities, academic facilities, and institutions where these records have been swept away in his professional career as a researcher and for his writings on the need to re-appraise the inherited colonial epistemological system in Nigeria and to introduce relevant cultural goals, subjects and local languages into the system, in order to accommodate the developmental and cultural pattern of the country.
He is a notable authority on the history of educational planning in Nigeria and also a great mentor who made contribution to deepening the pool of Nigerian academia and professionals.
Prof. David also has a wide experience in teaching and research. Over the years, he has garnered professional, administrative and technical experience in the areas of curriculum development, language development and book development. he has published many articles in learned journals and contributed chapters to many reputable books in the areas of Language, Literature, Language Education and Curriculum development. He has attended and participated in over 40 conferences and workshops within and outside the Country. He is a fellow of numerous academic and professional bodies. This included the institute of consulting and chartered institute of personnel and Development (FCIPD), which he served with merit
