The exercise was done to scrutinise the standards the department uphold in course curriculum, facilities, staff quality and strength, as well as mode of operation.
Speaking on the accreditation, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Julius Oloke said the institution is committed to upholding standards to keep the university relevant in the 21st century.
Oloke explained that the accreditation allows the department to operate, validates the standards and quality of students and alumni being produced.
Similarly, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has accredited the Accounting department of the faith-based institution.
The university was invited to the award and recognition ceremony of accredited tertiary institutions and tuition centres which was held at ICAN’s headquarters in Lagos.
According to Prof Asaolu Taiwo who led the team, accounting students of accredited institutions would be exempted from writing preliminary examinations of the institute. With this, they would progress directly to the professional level upon graduation from school.
