OSCOTECH pioneer Rector, Odeyemi, passes on at 79

The death has been announced of the pioneer Rector of Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke, Prof. Olu Odeyemi. He was aged 79 years.
The scholar, who breathed his last on March 6, this year, was renowned for his exceptional contributions to science, education, and national development.
In a statement signed by his son, Dr Tunde Odeyemi, the renowned scholar is survived by his wife, Omolara; children, grandchildren, and a host of relatives, friends, and mentees who will deeply miss his presence.
Funeral arrangements, according to him, will be announced in due course.
Odeyemi, over a career spanning more than four decades, dedicated himself to advancing knowledge and inspiring countless students, many of whom have become leaders in their fields.
The celebrated microbiologist’s groundbreaking research significantly enriched the understanding of microbial science and its applications.
His scholarly works were widely published, and he earned numerous accolades for his contributions to scientific research and education. As a respected lecturer and mentor, his impact extended far beyond the classroom by shaping policies, fostering innovation, and nurturing the next generation of Nigerian scholars.
In addition to his academic achievements, Odeyemi played a vital role in public service, contributing to national discussions on environmental management, sustainable development, and scientific advancement. His wisdom and insight were frequently sought by policymakers, and his influence continues to resonate in both academic and governmental circles.
