Union petitions FG over polytechnic staff welfare

The Federal Government has been berated for not addressing the welfare needs of polytechnic workers.

The National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), Comrade Adebanjo Ogunsipe, said this in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The SSANIP President stated that with the terrible economic situation, Nigerian workers deserve more than they are getting.

He added that members of his association constitute a formidable pillar in the polytechnics’ education system and deserve to be treated well.

He lamented that the current salary structures cannot sustain workers and cited the implications of such on their productivity.

He charged President Bola Tinubu to consider the technical benefits inherent in polytechnic education in the policies of his government, saying it is the propeller of economic development for a society that embraces it.

The SSANIP President, however, warned against a likely face-off that may be inevitable if urgent actions are not taken by the government, stressing that there’s a limit to human endurance.

He said members of his association have shown great commitment and dedication in the discharge of their duties and therefore deserve to be taken good care of.
