FG unveils NADDC automotive training, CNG conversion centre in Kano

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), has commissioned the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) newly established and equipped Automotive Training and CNG Conversion Centre in Kano State.

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI), has commissioned the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) newly established and equipped Automotive Training and CNG Conversion Centre in Kano State.

While performing the official commissioning of the state-of-the-art facility, Dr. Uzoka-Anite, the former minister, who has been moved to another ministry, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to job creation through effective use of national resources, describing the CNG Conversion Centre as one of the initiatives of the FMITI and NADDC designed to key into the Presidential CNG initiative of the Federal Government and ensure successful implementation of the programme.

She applauded the NADDC helmsman and his entire team for making the vision a reality while congratulating the great people of Kano State for being part of the first beneficiaries of the NADDC CNG Conversion Centres.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite also encouraged all Nigerians to embrace the new technology for more education and employment. Speaking at the ceremony, the NADDC Director-General, Joseph Osanipin, emphasised the importance of investing in automotive skills to combat poverty and foster local development.

The NADDC boss, said: “The Council is dedicated to enhancing local capacity and sustainability within the industry, having established 21 training facilities across the country, with 15 fully equipped.

“The Kano Centre will focus on skill development and will soon commence training in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion, aiming to empower the youth and support the community,” he stated.

Other dignitaries at the event were the Permanent Secretary, FMITI, Nura Abba Rimi, the representatives and members of the Nigeria Automotive Technicians Association (NATA), Motor Mechs and Technicians Association of Nigeria (MOMTAN) among others.

The newly equipped auto training and CNG conversion centre will empower technicians and mechatronics specialists, enabling them to convert existing petrol and diesel vehicles to gas-powered models.

This development not only meets the growing demand for gas-powered vehicles but also equips local technicians with essential skills, to ensure proper maintenance and repair of such vehicles.
