It’s not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change. — Charles Darwin

A young philanthropist with an undying passion for excellence, Prince Funso Ayeni, has yet again adorned a significant feather to his cap, having bagged a PhD in Management from Walden University, United States of America.

Specialising in Leadership and Organisational Strategy, his research thesis dwells largely on the pivotal roles of Emotional Intelligence in moderating leadership success and influencing societal needs by equipping leaders with the ability to effectively understand, manage and respond to both their own emotions and the emotions of others.

This remarkable achievement adds to both his already impressive professional and academic profile, showcasing his dedication to lifelong learning, personal growth and a testament to his belief that no obstacle is too big to overcome when one is determined to achieve one’s purpose.

“I have always wanted to be a scholar and this programme has helped me in this quest. There is also this nagging desire to equip myself with all it takes to become an all-round leader. I want to make changes happen in a sustainable sense. I thought that such a course in Leadership and Management would make me become a better leader, a resource and people manager capable of anticipating problems and solving them before they begin to affect people and the society adversely. I also believe it would equip me with what it takes to advance the greater good,” said Ayeni, who several times was Brand Manager and Trade Marketing Manager with Nigerian Breweries Plc.

Ayeni’s academic path is both diverse and impressive. He began his higher education journey at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, where he distinctively earned a Higher National Diploma in Mineral Resources Engineering in 2002. His pursuit of knowledge led him to the Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Geophysics. Never relenting, he advanced his education at Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, earning a Master of Business Administration in 2010. His quest for excellence took him abroad to the University of Salford, United Kingdom, where he completed a Master of Science in 2018. Furthering his academic credentials, he achieved a Master of Philosophy from Walden University, USA, in 2023. His most recent and crowning academic accomplishment is his PhD in Management from Walden University in 2024, with a specialisation in Leadership and Organisational Strategy.

His journey underscores the importance of resilience and perseverance. He has continually sought to improve himself academically, driven by a desire to become a scholar-practitioner, advance the greater good, become a better thinker, and gain a competitive edge in the market and a role model to the teeming youths in search of positive mentorship against the misrepresentation of “education is scam” who will leverage this notable path for inspirations.

On how he was able to accomplish his success in far away United States even while he lived in Nigeria, the marketing professional said: “Although it was quite tedious because of the differences in time zones, once there is the will to achieve, nothing stands in your way. I was determined to improve myself and prepare myself for the challenges of helping to build a better society and just had to do everything it took to achieve my objectives.”

With this new academic feat, Ayeni’s participation in the political arena is set to reach new heights. His PhD in Management equips him with advanced knowledge and skills that will enhance his leadership capabilities. This academic achievement not only solidifies his reputation as a thought leader but also positions him to contribute more effectively to political discourse and decision-making. Ayeni’s success story will undoubtedly inspire many young politicians to pursue higher education and strive for excellence in their careers.

In his hometown, Ilamo, Ekiti State, Ayeni’s PhD achievement is more than just a personal milestone; it’s a beacon of hope and inspiration. This accomplishment highlights the possibilities that lie within the community, encouraging others to pursue their dreams despite the challenges they may face. The local community is abuzz with pride and admiration for Ayeni’s dedication and perseverance.

“My life has been about lifting others and making my environment better. Helping my community has been a way of life for me. I cannot stop it, even if I wanted to, because that is where I derive my own joy. You know some people get their own pleasure from buying expensive cars, building mansions, travelling frequently to exotic places and maybe stocking expensive wines. But my source of utility is different and like I said, it is too late to stop. For me, giving hope to the needy and lifting the poor is everything. It is the purest of joys that only the giver understands what it does to the peace of his soul,” he stated.

Exploring the hidden treasure and the role of Emotional Intelligence in strategy formulation and implementation, Ayeni’s new feat will not just be an academic title; it will be a testament to his deep understanding of industry dynamics and leadership principles. His extensive experience in various sectors, coupled with his advanced studies, will further enable him to make significant contributions to the industry.

Ayeni’s insights and innovations are set to drive progress and development, showcasing the vital role that education plays in enhancing industry practices. His journey underscores the importance of continuous learning and its impact on professional success.
