… Launches SERVICOM to bridge patients’, management gap.
The management of FUTA Teaching Hospital (FUTATH) has appointed and inaugurated substantive heads of departments, committees, and units in a move aimed at enhancing service delivery to the public.
The inauguration ceremony, which took place on Wednesday at the hospital’s premises, saw the newly appointed officials assume their roles following the expiration of the tenure of interim heads who had been piloting the hospital’s operations since its take-off.
According to the chief medical director of the teaching hospital, Prof. Olusegun Ojo, the appointments were carefully considered with a view to enhancing the efficiency of the institution in serving the people better.
The CMD explained that the tenure of office of interim heads that were appointed at the takeoff of the Teaching Hospital expired on June 30, necessitating the need for fresh appointments to avoid a vacuum in the hospital’s administrative structure.
Ojo urged the newly inaugurated officials not to see themselves as overlords but rather as servants entrusted with the responsibility of advancing the hospital’s mission.
The CMD further emphasized that the appointees must remain accountable to the hospital in the discharge of their duties.
Ojo disclosed that the Teaching Hospital has established the SERVICOM platform as a mechanism to ensure continuous interaction between the people and the hospital.
The CMD, who is also a member of most of the departments, explained that the SERVICOM platform would allow the hospital to identify areas where improvement is needed to enhance the quality of services to the people.
Ojo dispelled the rumor that some members of staff inherited from the state were deliberately not absorbed by the Teaching Hospital, as he clarified the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Ondo State government.
The CMD explained that the Federal Civil Service provided the hospital with a take-off establishment, which is the maximum number of staff it could begin operation with, as outlined in the MoU.
He noted that the hospital had already captured the biodata of eligible staff and that a mop-up exercise would be conducted sooner rather than later to accommodate those who missed the previous exercise.
