NHEA opens nominations for 2026 Healthcare Excellence Awards

The Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA)

The Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA) has opened nominations for its 12th edition, scheduled to hold on June 26, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, as organisers called on stakeholders across the health sector to submit entries before the May 8 deadline.

The organisers said the 2026 edition would once again convene healthcare leaders, professionals, institutions, policymakers and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors to celebrate excellence, innovation, quality and impact in Nigeria’s healthcare system.

Organised annually, the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award is an initiative of Global Health Projects & Resources (GHPR), in partnership with Anadach Group, USA.

The organisers said the award platform has, over the years, become one of the country’s most respected initiatives for recognising outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery.

Speaking on the nomination process, the NHEA Project Director, Dr. Wale Alabi, said entries had been opened across a broad range of categories designed to reflect the diversity and evolving nature of Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem.

He explained that the categories span Special Awards, Healthcare Delivery Services, Biomedical Technology and Pharmaceuticals, and are open to both individuals and organisations demonstrating measurable impact through innovation, efficiency, quality care and leadership.

Alabi said the Special Awards categories for the 2026 edition would include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Outstanding Healthcare Financial Institution of the Year, State Government Health Insurance of the Year, Healthcare Media Excellence Awards for print and electronic media, as well as Special Recognition Awards for exceptional contributions to the sector.

According to him, the Healthcare Delivery Services categories would recognise excellence across tertiary and secondary public and private healthcare facilities, health maintenance organisations, laboratories, radiology services, IVF and dialysis centres, eye and dental care services, oncology, physiotherapy, and nursing and midwifery practice.

He added that the PharmAccess SafeCare Quality Platform Awards would also spotlight facilities demonstrating strong commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.

In the Biomedical Technology and Pharmaceuticals categories, Alabi said NHEA 2026 would celebrate innovation and professionalism through awards such as the DCL–NHEA Laboratory Innovation and Quality Improvement Award, DCL–NHEA Laboratory Professional of the Year, Biomedical Engineering Service Company of the Year, Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company of the Year and Technology-Driven Pharmaceutical Distributor of the Year, among others.

The organisers said the submission of nominations would close on May 8, 2026, after which all entries would be compiled and assessed by an independent group to ensure transparency, credibility and fairness in the selection process.

They added that nominations could be submitted via email or through the official NHEA website.

Widely regarded as the “Oscars of Nigerian Healthcare,” the organisers said the Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award continues to play a critical role in promoting best practices, encouraging healthy competition and spotlighting individuals and organisations whose work significantly improves the health and wellbeing of Nigerians.
