Oregun Health Centre receives club’s N700,000 free medical equipment

Medical equipment including wheel chair, patient examination table, drugs, and consumables worth N700,000.00 were donated to Oregun Health Centre by the Rotary Club of Oregun in collaboration with the Rotary International, District 9110, comprising Lagos and Ogun States, bringing succor to patients of the health centre as well as members of Oregun community with a view to enjoying free drugs and benefit freely from other donated medical facilities.

Speaking at the event, the District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110 comprising Lagos and Ogun States, Rotarian Kola Sodipo said the exercise was part of the District’s agenda to empower 15 medical centres with similar medical items and equipment.

He also disclosed that the items donated were based on the initial need assessment conducted at the health centre in line with the club’s practice not to dump donations on beneficiaries. “We found out the need of the health centre and these are their requirement that would meet the needs of the patients” he said.He appealed to Nursing Staff and other handlers of the equipment to ensure judicious use of the items donated by preserving them for a long time.

The President of the Club, Seyi Fapohunda described the donation as the club’s signature project, adding that the club had been to the health centre previously to carry out free malaria test and also gave out malaria drugs as well as presented mosquito nets in the past.

“We would continue to reduce the burden of buying drugs by patients who come to this health centre as well as members of this community” he said.

Supervisory Counsellor for Health, Onigbongbo, Bolaji Monsuru who represented the Chairman, Onigbongbo Local Council Area, Babatunde Oke appreciated the gesture of the club while the Jagunmolu of Oregunland Chief Olufemi Bakare commended and prayed for the club on its passion for the less privileged.
