Producing preventive formula for novel coronavirus

Foremost trado-medicine formulator and owner of Yem-Kem International, Dr. Akintunde Ayeni is set to produce preventive herbal medicine for both viral and bacteria infections especially to tackle the COVID-I9 pandemic. Ayeni who is partnering with the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, said the Oba is passionate about ensuring the fight against COVID-19 with herbal remedy.

According to Dr. Ayeni, “COVID-19 is not new, it is just in a new dimension, and we want the government to know that it is not only western medicine that can tackle this pandemic. We want the government to ensure they give attention to traditional remedy not just by word of mouth and also with research.

The federal government can realise over 100 billion dollars as revenue if only they can focus on traditional medicine, just as 30 per cent of Chinese economy revenue is from the herbal industry.

“While we are looking at providing preventive drug for viral and bacterial infections, we are currently at the preparatory stage, we also need the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to check our content and ensure it is not toxic to the body. Our formulation is aimed at boosting immunity, which is key to surviving any disease.”

He further stressed that there are other deadly diseases like Cholera, Chicken pox and small pox, these have been fought with the help of herbal remedies and we have recorded huge success. The Chinese have succeeded in containing the virus with their traditional medicine, this is because 80 per cent of Chinese believe in herbal cure and that is why they live longer.

“One question I like to ask our government is that, in the time of our forefathers, how else did they treat themselves if not with traditional herbs and leaves,” he added that his formulation will help boost immunity naturally to fight any kind of disease, hence he pleads for government’s support to fight the pandemic with herbal solution.
